Actually, you were partially right in the beginning. I've been on Medium almost 2 years according to Medium. But actually, I joined Medium in March 2020 and well, left a month later. I just popped in read people's stuff and didn't comment on anything.
I returned as a creator again and I had the same ideas you did. I thought a follower saw all your content, read it, and would possibly respond and clap.
Nope. You've got to show up in your follower feeds. The way you do it is reading, highlighting, and responding to other folks work.
What many people don't get when they get here is they aren't just "writers" anymore. Medium is a social media platform for blogging. When we signed up for the Medium Partnership program, "we became content creators."
Your advantage is, you can tell great stories. You can write, very well. I had to learn to tell those stories people want to read while drinking a cup of joe or relaxing on the couch. Write one a day or 4 a week, but keep my pattern (I got covid so my pattern was thrown off course this month).
Okay, I wrote a dang post here. But it's only because, you've got an edge most others don't have. You are really humorous. People can identify with you. Medium is changing and wants to lean towards more personal stories. Just check out the writing prompts they call for at the Creator's hub.
Forgive me, for writing a post here. But I don't want to see any good writers leave the platform frustrated or we all get stuck with turds!
