Exactly, its similar to a few musicians I know. They care about the music and not the charts. They also care about their catalog and masters. The back catalog is going to take them into their retirement. So they want to have songs and music that will stand the test of time.
Whether we realize it or not, even here at Medium, we are creating a catalog of written work. If Medium is around in 5 or even 10 years, the well-written and thoughtful content will rise to the top. Don't get me wrong I love a good life hack, but when it comes to writing--the process of writing--I want to do it well every time. Not perfect, well. And a hack can't give me that.
