For two years, I attended a "funeral" every other month as my Mom's much older brothers and sisters died. We stopped call them funerals and stared calling them, "Home-goings." I had to realize that my family was changing. Though it was hardest when someone young died. But I had to see that differently too. It wasn't "death" as we have been told it was, it was transition and that transitioning is a part of life. Thank you for this thoughtful piece, Kimberly.
