I am so glad you stick to your convictions and write about this, MIchele. So, many people treat alcohol like it's Kool Aid. It's strange because in many ways your first drink is almost like a right of passage. I had my first drink of alcohol at 12--a cousin gave it to me. And I know men who had their first swig of beer right alongside riding their bikes without training wheels. My father was what they call a functional alcoholic along with many of his family members. So since high school I knew I had to be careful. A lot of what I did was not to be a goodie two shoes but to walk the line because I knew I was damn near born susceptible.
