…es is important. Only by empowering people can communities lift themselves out of poverty for good. The welfare trap does the opposite — it keeps people stuck when they just want a chance to succeed.

I don't know why financial literacy isn't taught along with these programs. Teach people how to succeed and most will learn and succeed. But if you set them up for failure. Yeah, they will fail.
