I feel ya! And I'm not offended at all. Sometimes the emotions in poetry are metaphoric. In poetry it's almost like we're asking you to find the emotion. The emotion is sort of hidden in metaphors. You have to peel it away like an onion.

When we tell a story, we have to show the emotion. That's why you felt the emotion more.

And to be honest, it's a lot of poetry I don't get or feel anything from it. Edgar Allen Poe scares me.
