It's funny, I also have a BA in Speech Comm. so naturally I've written my share of speeches. Some public speakers are just performance artists. Like a singer that has never written a song. Some can "sell it" and deliver it well but can only tell you "kinda what they want the speech to cover" and as the writer, you have to come up with the rest.
