I have some thoughts. This may turn into a novel, so don't talk about me too bad : -) . LOL.
People think you can have too much content too soon. I don't think so, but what I think has happened is, we are all going to have to niche down. Why? Because I think we are all "Publications" now. Not individual writers but publications. We are blogs.
I don't know "exactly" how medium was in the past, but from what I am seeing now, writers are going to have to go to their "more settings" and determine if their SEO is on point. We've been concerned about followers and views from the platform, but I think there is more to think about. (I know this could be a post by now, maybe later)
There was one lady on the platform who got 10,000 followers in one month and she says she regrets it because it did nothing for her views. And you know that didn't do anything for her pockets either.
Lots of folks say "just be quiet and write." But what about people like you who have over 450 stories. That's probably 5 books at least.
But I digress. We are going to have to get our Yourname.medium.com in order. Meaning we are going to have to use those lists, use blogging strategies, optimize our content, brand ourselves on social media, promote the referral program like an affiliate program, and still tell great stories.
I know, what some will say, "Hey we only get paid from Medium Members not random traffic." We are in the world of "tags" now. The algorithm is different. When it involves tags, off platform traffic counts as far as how long you remain at the top of a tag. That's why you got some writers form 2016 still sitting at the top of a tag.
OMG let me stop. Yes, this can be posts. Do you feel where I am going with this. We are all Bloggers now. Medium is kind of the YouTube of Blogging now. (Squinting face as I write)
