I prefer publications that have strong engagement. Some (not all) of the larger publications don't have great engagement. It's a flex to get in one, but it doesn't do too much for growth. Actionable metrics aren't affected that much.

And some are really waiting for your numbers to get higher before they accept your work. On the flipside, most viral posts have been in larger pubs.
