I think the only safe place a lot of Black Women allow themselves to cry is in Church. I think that’s the only place many would release tears and strip away their guard. The church is the only place where I saw Black Women let themselves be vulnerable.

I believe yes, there is a long history behind why many of us feel unsafe being vulnerable in public. I feel that fear and embarrassment if I get emotional in public. Yes, it’s a deep-seated issue.
