It's possible Medium has tighten it's reign on what is considered "read time" because now Medium seems to be "curating" or at least giving further distribution to stories that are 3 minutes. That wasn't so a few months ago. So perhaps the percentage of read time has increased especially on shorter pieces. But it still means some folks are just giving your work a quick scan and a clap. I literally have had more comments than genuine reads on a few stories.
