Narcissistic Personality Disorder Doesn’t Apply to Every Jerk We Meet
Narcissism isn’t a label we want to attach to everyone. Those who have been in relationships with a Narcissist will tell you just how dangerous a real Narcissist can be.
“He’s a narcissist, I repeated that 3-step process to him over and over again. He did it his way. It didn’t work. I knew it wasn’t going to work,” a woman said talking to her male companion at the juice bar.
I really didn’t want to hear this conversation at 7:30 in the morning. I just wanted my beachy greens. A girl is just trying to stay hydrated; you know. It’s hot as hell in Tennessee this summer.
She went on and on about a co-worker sounded as if he had a bit of an edge and possibly a chip on his shoulder if you were to take her complaints as truth.
And how does she know he’s a narcissist? I thought.
As I was having this thought, I heard the guy who was with her say, “I don’t know if he’s a narcissist. He’s kind of cocky, but a narcissist? That’s something serious.”
After that, the lady went on about all the things that made her co-worker a narcissist. At some point, I tuned her out.
