The 70+ are Topic Tags. These are the major Topics on Medium. These major topics are where you can make the greatest impact on Medium. We all refer to them as Big Tags. We can grab a big tag such as Social Media and Medium will send you an email and add it to your profile page or about page. However, if you get Top Writer for “Content Marketing,” you won’t.

Why? Because Social Media is a major topic created by Medium. Content Marketing is a subtopic tag created because of the number of stories written on the topic. That’s why I say don’t undermine small topic tags because “we,” writers and readers created them.
