The recent death of Stephen “tWitch” Boss has shocked and saddened many including his wife, Allison Holker, and his three children.

Stephen was found dead in a hotel room due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to his wife who called authorities, He left their home “not acting like himself.”

Stephen “tWitch” Boss Was An Entertainer, Father, and Philanthropist

Born Stephen Laurel Boss, Stephen took on the name tWitch because of his incredible freestyle dance moves. He was a beloved choreographer, dancer, actor, and producer.

First known for his work on the long-running TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” where he rose to judge status on the show for its 14th season, he became best known as DJ tWitch on “Ellen” from 2014 until the show ended early this year.

Along with his work in the entertainment industry, Stephen was a philanthropist and advocate for the Autism community. And his wife said, “He was a great father and husband.”

Suicide Rates Are Highest During the Holiday Season

The tragedy of tWitch’s death is especially poignant during the holiday season. Sadly, suicide rates are highest in December.

There are several theories as to why this is the case.

Some believe it’s due to seasonal depression and lack of sunlight, while others theorize it has to do with people reflecting more deeply on their lives during the holidays.

But studies from the report there are many from individual to community to relationship factors.

However, two of the most vital are:

  • Coping and problem-solving skills
  • A connection with others

As such, I am reminded of a popular hashtag that emerged pre-pandemic — #checkinonyourstrongfriend (check in on your strong friend).
