Suicide Rates Are Highest During the Holiday Season
The tragedy of tWitch’s death is especially poignant during the holiday season. Sadly, suicide rates are highest in December.
There are several theories as to why this is the case.
Some believe it’s due to seasonal depression and lack of sunlight, while others theorize it has to do with people reflecting more deeply on their lives during the holidays.
But studies from the CDC report there are many risk factors associated with suicide from individual to community to relationship factors.
However, two of the most vital protective factors associated with suicide are:
- Coping and problem-solving skills
- A connection with others
