There is so much history behind colorism, racism, sexism and so many wounds. We have to find a sensible way to come to the table and talk about it and help those wounds heal.
I've seen the light skinned/ dark skinned battle of colorism play out in my ethnicity (I am a black woman but I grew up in a heritage in louisiana called Creole). People trying to keep their line lighter and encouraging their children not to marry someone dark skinned. This goes far back to something called the blue veins. Now that the ethnic group, culture and even the language is dying. So who gives a shit about light skinned and dark skinned now?
