Don’t get me wrong I am very grateful I spent Thanksgiving with my family. Moreover, I was ecstatic to host the festivities this year. But boy, was I tired afterward.

First, let me establish. None and I do mean not one member of my family is vegan.

I am.

So, my family bought, brought, and cooked their own food. My sister, my youngest brother, and their entire family came along with my Mom and Stepdad.

My other brother and stepbrother didn’t make it. They both had to work.

Three Families Cooking Under One Loft

Yes, three families joined forces in my loft kitchen to prepare turkey, dressing, curried chicken, mustard greens, sweet potato pie, caramel cake, and banana pudding.

Roslyn and I prepared vegan stuffing, vegan gravy, mushroom and chickpea roast, and candied yams with pecans.

I rented the clubhouse in our building and we all feasted, laughed, and had a great time.

Why hosting Thanksgiving Was So hard?
