The Morning Muse│Writing│Storytelling
Writing to Make the World Better — Is it Arrogant, Altruistic, or Alright?
As a writer, storyteller, and poet, I ponder can my stories impact the lives of others. What can I contribute to meaningful conversations?
After answering a few private questions on my story The Making of a Thought Leader…, I decided, "Today, I will have coffee!" I usually have green tea a few days a week, a smoothie, or green juice. Nah, not today. Coffee.
Stirring two teaspoons of coconut sugar and a dash of cinnamon in my coffee cup, I took my Cuppa Java on my morning stroll. Walking and self-talking proved to be what I needed to get the writerly mind pumping.
Why Do I Write? It's Complicated.
I write because I love to write. I love to tell stories. Now, here's where it gets complicated, telling stories. What's the point in telling a story if no one reads it? But more importantly, why should anyone read a story I've written?
Yes, I will be honest. I am one of those writers who thinks I can make the world a better place through writing. But I'm discovering that it's not writing itself that can bring out the best of us. It's the stories we choose to tell.
