…ad a point. Letting go is rarely just about the thing itself — it’s about everything it represents. The memories, the plans, the version of yourself that thought it was important. Parting with it can feel like letting go of all of that, too, and that’s what makes it so hard.

Yes, Tesie, it's the memories, no so much the thing itself. It does feel as if you lose a tactile thing--something you can touch that belongs to that memory.
